The main goal of the Income Generation & Livelihoods Program is to increase participatory development opportunities for displaced persons and to assist the community in reaching the self-reliance.
Income Generation Program is a great chance for most vulnerable representatives of IDP communities to improve their socio-ecumenical condition for better lives in the future. The most vulnerable IDPs which are at the moment out of reaching services of Micro Financial institutions and Banks are given by unprecedented opportunities: gain/ expended knowledge in business field, start own micro business activity and get additional consultations for developing their business activities.
All above mentioned services are provided in the frame of Income Generation Program through Core and Support components on which the program is based.
Support component mainly includes trainings and consultations for program beneficiaries in order to increase their knowledge and business skills and therefore help them to reach financial sustainability. Trainings introduce basics of business and management. There are reviewed issues on market research and marketing; financial management tools, such as costing and pricing, break even point, profit and loss statement, cash-flow and balance sheet.
The core component of the program is the Micro Business Start up Scheme that considers the provision of soft (interest free) micro loans up to EUR 200. The recipient of the start-up fund will be responsible for proposing a business idea, managing the business, and repaying sum from the business income according to an approved schedule.
Nowadays program runs its activities in 5 towns of Eats and West Georgia; the most vulnerable IDPs are targeted on the basic of following criteria: young heads of households, unemployed for at least 2 years and willing and able to work in a micro business.
Priority is given to those IDPs who are living in collective centres in poor living conditions, representing larger household, unable to start business due to lack of business skills/start-up capital, having tried to obtain job, but failed due to the inaccessibility of appropriate positions and beneficiaries who are having viable business idea.
