Welcome to Charity Humanitarian Centre ABKHAZETI
Charity Humanitarian Centre "Abkhazeti" (CHCA) is the premier national NGO working to develop IDP (internally displaced person) communities in the Republic of Georgia. Established in 1995 in response to the thousands of Georgian IDPs created by the first conflict with Abkhazia, CHCA has since implemented a wide range of programming from education and micro-finance to emergency relief and housing assistance.
When the August, 2008 war generated a new wave of IDPs (mostly from the South Ossetia region), CHCA responded immediately. Along with delivering swift emergency relief, we worked to lay groundwork for the longer-term development efforts that would soon become crucial to recovery.
Today, CHCA implements an even broader range of projects as it endeavors to support development among both "new" and "old" IDPs. Our mission, meanwhile, remains constant: to strengthen and empower the displaced to build a better future for themselves and their families.
Ongoing Programs
Non-Formal Education Program
Non Formal Education Program (NFEP) is one of the mainstream and long-term programs of the organization that has been implementing since 1999 to date in 6 towns of Georgia: Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Tskhaltubo, Poti, Zugdidi and Senaki. The program aims to support internally displaced and local vulnerable youth to develop their leadership potential, personal and professional skills to become socially active and self-reliant citizens.

Income Generation Program
Programme is to increase participatory development opportunities for displaced persons and to assist the community in reaching the self-reliance.
Income Generation Program is a great chance for most vulnerable representatives of IDP communities to improve their socio-ecumenical condition for better lives in the future.

Charity Develpment in Georgia
Charity Humanitarian Center "Abkhazeti" has productively worked on improving social conditions of IDPs for years. In June, 2003 Mr. Archil Bakuradze, former executive director of CHCA was awarded by international award of Van Huven Hutpart by SV as the manager of the best organization working on IDPs problems in Georgia.
